Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

One of the latest techniques dentistry is the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy with patients who get implants or other surgical procedures to promote faster healing. In keeping with our commitment to offer the very best care to our patients, we are using PRP therapy for cases where it is appropriate. Dr. Lenzi and our Dental Assisting Team have been trained and certified to complete all steps of preparing PRP for use.

PRP Therapy entails using the patient’s own platelets to create a solution which is then injected into the surgical site. The platelets are the cells that cause your blood to clot when you get a cut or other wound. Essentially, PRP therapy places a concentration of platelets where healing is needed.

In preparation for PRP Therapy, your Dental Assistant will draw your blood prior to the start of your dental procedure. Then, while the dentist is completing your procedure, the platelets are extracted from the blood sample and used to prepare the PRP gel. When your dental procedure is completed, the PRP gel is injected into the surgical site.
